Have you ever wondered what clouds are made up of? Is your brain being dazzled by the science you think is behind it? Well don't you worry because it is extremely simple and easy to remember how clouds are made, so you'll be telling all your friends in no time!
Clouds are made when water is turned into it's gas form, called water vapour. This happens when large amounts of heat are being put into the water, like your mum heating up water in the pot to make pasta. This gas then flies up into the air, but has gotten cold enough to turn back to water. But this process doesn't happen with your parents cooking, it happens with the ocean. The sun shines onto it and makes the water turn into vapour, then turn back into water droplets and stick to debree and dust into the air. These water drops soon merge together and grow larger and bigger until they form clouds.
See, that wasn't as hard as you thought! Now let's take this photo of a cloud and describe it.
PICTURE #3
The plump, fluffy clouds look like cushions of soft cotton balls, wispy around the edge. Wow, look at that one in the centre! It reminds me of a big mans moustache, with lots of bumpy and imprecise edges. Whiter than teeth, these floating blankets are flying in the summer breeze, with thin clouds trying to trail along at the bottom. All of the clouds which surround this phenomenal moustache are like splotches of white paint or stretched out cotton balls. I really want to jump in the picture and view this in real life! Imagine that you could really make any shape you want. I would add a big face to this moustache and rearrange the lumpy edges to look groomed and slick.
I hope you've enjoyed reading my blog post about clouds. Thank you for coming to my blog. Please give me feedback or if you have any questions, please ask. What cloud shape would you make? Tell me in the comments.
Blog you later!
Hi Gargee,
ReplyDeleteIt's Leslie here, a member of the Summer Learning Journey team, reading your blog from my wintery home in Canada. We're enjoying a beautiful, sunny day here, just like the one in the photo. It' wonderful.
It's hard to believe that the "moustache" cloud in this photo is actually real! It almost looks like someone drew it in the sky, doesn't it? But that's how clouds are - they can take every shape imaginable, even if only for a moment.
You've given an excellent response to the question of what you see in this photo. Do you like to be outside, being active in the out of doors? Or are you more an indoors person?
I love being out as much as possible. Having an Australian dog helps me with that. Spirit, as my dog is called, is really active and needs lots of exercise so we're out walking several times a day. I love it!
I hope you're loving your summer holidays and that you're enjoying being a part of this Summer Learning Journey program!!
I'll continue to enjoy reading your blog.
Cheers,
Leslie
