Summer Learning Journey Day 4 Activity 3: My creative house

Namaste blogging world,

Today I get to describe my own imaginative hotel that I can make up. There are some hotels in the world that are made out of ice, salt and complete glass! I want to make something crazy like that too, so lets get to the description.

My hotel will be a big, luxury one with big, comfy rooms made entirely out of concrete. The furniture will be expensive, large and nice looking, compared to your own cheap hotel that you would go to every time.

Extremely wide, HD TV's will be in every room, just like your dream (I can read your mind) and there will be special bath soap and bath bombs, and lots of different water temperature settings. The bath will be made out of concrete too, and the big room where you get your hotel key is completely marble. Handles of any doors will be shiny metal, sprayed the colour extreme gold.

I want to build my hotel in a very calm, quiet place. Someplace in Iceland could be nice as it is very peaceful there. I also feel like the rooms shouldn't be too expensive because it is just one day staying at a hotel, not your whole life.

Here is one room of my hotel:

This is the bathroom.

I hope you've enjoyed this activity. Please comment any questions or feedback that you have, and have a nice holiday

Summer Learning Journey Day 4 Activity 2: My Favourite Food

Hello bloggers,

I love food, and people shouldn't forget that about me. I can't choose any specific food that I love the most, but there are quite a few from my culture that I know how to make, even though I don't make it for myself. It is called 'pakora', but I don't know how to write it in Nepali. Here is a recipe if you want to try it.

1. Take some potatoes, onions, and spinach, chop them into small slices, then set them aside in a large bowl

2. Add some gram flour, salt, and spices to taste. You can experiment with different types of spices

3. Mix all together thoroughly with hand or spoon only (no hand mixer), until you can make a small round ball out of the mixture

4. Heat the oil, and when it is ready, put small mixture balls into the oil to fry it.

5. Fry until golden and crispy, then place on a plate to cool down for a little bit

6. Tuck in and enjoy!

This is (one of) my favourite foods because I love potatoes, and it is kind of like a ball of fries. It is also not too unhealthy, other than it has been in the oil.

What is your favourite food? Comment it down below! I hope you enjoyed reading my post.

Summer Learning Journey Day 4 Activity 1: Sir Edmund Hillary

Bula Vinaka blogging world,

Sir Edmund Hillary is an important part of history because he has climbed the highest mountain on Earth (Mt Everest, Located in Nepal, where I'm from), but he was the first person to also go back down alive in 1953. Other people have tried, but sadly lost their lived due to the extreme heights. If you go too high, you might not even be able to breathe. Sir Edmund Hillary was not alone though. He went with Tenzing Norgay, someone from Nepal who has climbed Mt Everest almost to the top before. Sir Edmund Hillary is from NZ, so that brings a bond between Nepal and New Zealand. Sadly, his days are over and he is no longer alive. If I had the chance to ask him 5 questions, they would be:

1. How old were you when you figured you liked doing climbing and extreme adventuring? I want to find out more about your extreme desire to climb this mountain in the first place.

2. How long did it take you to reach the top of the monstrous mountain? It's just interesting to find out more about the journey.

3. What things did you have to pack in your bags to finish climbing the mountain? If I ever want to go to attempt the mountain, I know what to pack.

4. Why did you ever even want to climb the mountain in the first place?

5. How did you feel while you were at the top of Mt Everest?

Do you want to climb Mt Everest? I sure do.

Summer Learning Journey Day 3 Activity 3: The World Wildlife Fund

Aloha bloggers,

Wildlife is crucial to the world as if we didn't have it, we might not have lived. If we didn't have sea life, you couldn't enjoy your fish meals, or shrimp. If we didn't have farm animals, we couldn't have eaten chicken or goat. If we didn't have animals to spread seeds, plants might not have grown. Animals are forever going to be with us on Earth, but sometimes we don't do such a good job protecting them and making sure they're safe.

This is a job for The WWF, which stands for The World Wildlife Fund. These people are a big group who save animals who are in desperate need for care and support. Wait, but where do they live, you ask? Good question. Hundreds of The WWF live all over the world and protect animals from all different places depending on where they live.

Here is an example of what The WWF has done to save tigers.

Forests in Asia are the home to lots of rough tigers. The only problem which has made it hard to live is that the people in forest are taking down trees to grow rubber trees.
The WWF decided to stop this by showing their extreme desire to stop rubber factory selling, and to try to monitor people hunting and poaching. This will work, but they can't stop because if they do, it may slip.

In 2006, there were only 1,411 tigers in the wild! We really needed to increase this, so in 2010, we had gotten up to 1706. After that, it increased even higher over 100 years and it is not 3890 tigers left in the wild. Not all tigers are in the wild though. About 5000 to 7000 tigers are living in captivity in the USA according to the WWF. Do you like the idea of the tigers all living in captivity? Comment it down below.

Please comment and tell me your answer to the question about tigers in captivity.

Summer Learning Journey Day 3 Activity 2: DOC Rangers

Hello my fellow followers,

It's not been long since the last time I posted! In this activity, I have to list 3 pros ( good things) and 3 cons ( bad things) about being a DOC Ranger. A DOC Ranger is a person who lives at Great Barrier Island or Little Barrier Island. Why, you ask? In NZ, we have a small amount of little lizards such as skinks and geckos, and we want to try and take care of them to make sure they don't go extinct. Many animals have gone extinct that people have loved, so DOC Rangers are trying their hardest to take care of these little fellas. They don't only protect animals, but also the plant life. Here are my pros and cons about DOC Rangers.

Pros:

1. You get to experience so much wildlife and plant life on such a small island. For example, all of the different lizards and plants that could be under and out of water are so fascinating

2. The experience of saving wildlife is like saving a humans life. You will feel proud after all of it, I know it.

3. It feels like being on vacation at the same time on the island, but your also doing an important, fun job of rescuing precious animals

Cons:

1. There could be dangerous creatures lurking under the island and the water that surrounds it. EEK! Sometimes when you're diving in the water, you can see it.

2. You can never know what happens if you have to stay in the middle of the night. There could be a storm, or just simple raining. I'm not sure where you stay, or if you even stay overnight, but it could happen.

3. Maybe you're not doing your job properly, and you may not save the wildlife in time. This is the worst con out of all of them.

I personally would not prefer to be a DOC Ranger just because I am nervous about the 3rd con, and I hate to see animals die. I also kind of could convince myself of be one because of all of the cool wildlife that you could see.

Please comment and give me questions or feedback.

I enjoy doing this journey!

See you after!

Summer Learning Journey Day 3 Activity 1: My Secret Beast

Ni Hao followers,

Right this second I am excited and hyped up because I just watched the book trailer that the Summer Learning Journey had linked, and I had a shiver down my spine when the clip ended. I feel like a burst of energy has zapped through my body because I get to describe my own beast! Here is my description of my evil little beast.

The vicious, spiky 'fur' of the wicked, beastly creature can send sparks down your shivering spine. Each tip as sharp as needles are strategically placed, so a soft, silky sea blue fur coat can comfortably (but sneakily) conceal the gob smacking, hideous look. As every single rusty coloured needle get covered with warm hairs, the real fun begins.

Slimy, yellow teeth are dripping with thick slobber, and lips are cracking as loud as the thunder. It may look like the beast is trying to put on brown lipstick, but one whiff of it can make any person faint. Your eyes will roll out of your imagination, and you will feel like getting eaten up - it's so bad. One thing the beast has a strong point is the face.

The smallest, most invisible eyelashes with crusty build are replaced with long, luscious black lashes. Dirty white/brown eyes are covered with big, blue contacts, it can make any stare with amazement. Revolting splotches of green and purple and brown on the face can barely - but surely, be covered with a cute, baby bears mask. It has beautiful blue fur to match it. Hide those foul teeth with fake ones, just to make it look like you've been to the dentist. Eww, even thinking about it makes me shudder.

Prickly toenails are polished and painted with pretty blue polish. All legs and arms are covered with  cuddly fur.

Now wait until you see this creature. You will stare with adoration, and feel like home.

Go up to it and give it a hug, you are in for a big surprise....

I hope you like it, I spent some time thinking about my imagination!

If you would like to change anything, or if you found a mistake, please comment as I want everything to be readable.

Summer Learning Journey Day 2 Activity 3: Weird & Wonderful Cactus

Namaste bloggers,

In today's activity for the Summer Learning Journey, I am going to talk about a plants life - and maths too.

So many places on Earth have lots of different cool plants that dazzle minds and astonish people who haven't seen such things before. There are so many colours, shapes, feels, and smells to all of the plants - maybe including taste if it's edible. Anyways, in Africa, and in basically all deserts, there are many different types of cactus. Some of them are purple, and some are green. Some can live on 3 ml (millilitres) of water a day! That is what I'm going to use for the equation.

The question is: You get a cactus for your birthday, and you've been instructed to feed it 3 ml of water a day. How many millilitres of water do you need for 1 year of feeding your cactus?

The way of solving this question is to take the amount of water that you feed it every day and multiply it by how many days you need to feed it. In this case, it would be 3 ml x 365 = 1095 ml. The answer is 1095 ml!

Here is a video explaining my way of solving this:

Explanation!

To solve 3 x 365=?, I found it easy to use a strategy in my head, but to write on paper, I would do this:

VIDEO ON HOW TO SOLVE 3x365

If any one of the videos are unclear, please tell me and I will try to make it clearer.

I hope you've learn't something from this equation, and has taught you a way of solving these questions. Make sure to continue to do maths and learn lots over the holidays.

Bye bloggers!
