Summer Learning Journey Week 2 Day 4 Activity 3: Selfie Time!

Salaam blogging world,

Do you know what a selfie is? If not, it is a picture you take by yourself usually with holding your camera/phone with one hand and posing with the other. At the bottom of each piece of writing I do, there will be the photo of what the people/person is doing. To get full points, my story has to be 8-10 sentences long, so enjoy the long selfie story haul!

Selfie #1:

Wow, there are so many men crowded around this cellphone, trying to get part in this photo! Maybe their gigantic, priceless smiles are due because of the wonderful day that has been happening so far, and one person wanted to make it better by including a huge brotherly picture. There is a possibility that none of the people in this photo have ever seen a phone before, and all want to see what it does on the camera roll. "Hey, I wanna be there, your too tall!", are the types of discussions they may be having. His hand is adjusting the picture so that everyone is included and nobody is left out. People who were in this selfie have probably been hanging out together, having a nice time and wanted to take a stop to remember this. Laughing would have filled the streets as they held on each others shoulders and strolled. Chattering had filled the bottom of the street with the friends voices.

Selfie #2:

OMG, how is this man not putting on his scary face mask! It looks like the man is going to fall down onto the spiky grass below. This man probably has a brave personality and wants to find his true passion for exploring. The smile he has put on his face was the best thing to do to forget about him falling, and to focus on getting a memorable photo. He has climbed a gigantic statue or building which is a risk to his life and has decided to take a wild selfie at the top. His trembly arms reach out to frame his face, and click the button. Flash! His photo has been taken and a relief has come upon his body. I think this man is a true explorer.

Selfie #3

This is a common type of selfie, because everyone wants to see people at risk about to fall in water. A nice, young lady is slightly arching her back and pointing to some building behind her for the pose. I can see her puckering her lips in awe for the picture. Her hair is lazily falling behind her back and her handbag is strapped against her chest. Behind her is a beautifully described landscape somewhere in Italy or Spain, maybe even France. I can tell she isn't a nervous person because she is standing on a corner of a building top, right where she can fall straight down. Below her is a sea blue lake which sparkles in the sunlight. I think this is a tourist making the most of her time at that place.

I hope you've enjoyed reading my blog pot. Thank you for coming to my blog. Please give me feedback or if you have any questions, please ask. Do you like selfies? Tell me in the comments.

  1. Hola Gargee,

You have written a great little story about each of the pictures that were provided. I like the way you described what each of the people could see, smell, feel and what you thought they might've been thinking. You have used lots of adjectives to describe each scenario, ka pai. :)

Perhaps next time you could write about how the girl in the picture felt just as she snapped the picture standing on the edge of that building. What do you think was going through her mind at that moment?

I probably wouldn't take a selfie the way she did because I wouldn't want to end up falling over the edge! No thank you! I shall stick to regular selfies.

Would you take a risky selfie like the girl in the picture?

    Toe feiloa'i fo'i,

    Cia.
